Every time I have the opportunity to work with talented people, my experience as a photographer is incredible. I'm not sure if it's the merging of visionary energy or the chance to showcase something so personal like talent, but the experience is always i n c r e d i b l e.
Many of you recognize Stacy because we've been working together since January of 2013 when I had the privilege of shooting her first glamour portraits. Having known her throughout high school and college I was fully aware of her amazing heart, mind and spirit. I was shocked, however, when her raw talent for the modeling and portraiture world unfolded right in front of me.
That first session launched her now active modeling career. Amazing, right?! We work well together and let's face it, I love her company and the chance to catch-up over lunch or coffee pre or post shoot is just the cherry on top. So, it's no surprise that when weather over the holidays caused one of my Kansas City sessions to be cancelled that I called Stacy.
Normally a cancellation during a snowstorm wouldn't have caused me to re-schedule immediately but I couldn't let the opportunity to shoot inside the Nerman Art Museum on the Johnson County Community College Campus pass me by. I'd fallen in love with the floor to ceiling windows and white slate flooring of the space back in 2012 and had finally coordinated permission to use it.
Thank goodness for beautiful client-friends like Stacy who are willing to talent share with me for an afternoon.
Snow was falling outside as we explored every crevice of the museum's stunning lobby. Even with overcast, wintery skies, the windows poured the most beautiful light. It also helped that she could stay warm rather than shivering. I do not miss trying to shoot in winter!
On a side note-- I about died when Stacy said "I packed this black fur coat I have, do you think it will work?"
I love bringing our her classic look so of course this accessory was completely perfect.
Creative sessions, especially with talented individuals like Stacy, fill my soul to the brim with energy, excitement and fulfillment. Most importantly, however, they remind me that our talents are truly God-given and meant to be shared.
Stac, you are beyond gorgeous and I am so thankful to have you in my life. Now, come to Florida and let's really round out your portfolio :)
Collaborate with another creative this week, friends! Good things will come of it! in His love,
