This year I have been working a lot on the CIHI brand and one of my favorite parts of the process has been falling in love all over again with the portraits I most enjoy making.

For a person who gets a little too much enjoyment out of organizing and planning, you’d think I’d be a little better at goal setting and jumping into countdowns head first. Instead, more often than not they overwhelm me and make me want to hide under the covers until it’s all over!

One of my favorite things about being a photographer is that sometimes it brings me back in touch with people I’ve known during other seasons of life to capture the beautiful and amazing things that are happening in their worlds now. Rachel is one such friend and it was so wonderful to catch-up with her when we were in NYC for our anniversary!

Rachel is an east-coast girl who has followed her path to Tampa for graduate school. She has a heart of gold, hair that only a Greek girl could rock and an insatiable palette for organic adventure and relationship. Her everyday style is simple and classic and I wanted the opportunity to photograph her with Davis Island (an inlet in Tampa Bay) as the backdrop. The looming historic structures along the island’s main road and the sandy shoreline of its marina were perfect for this J-Crew/ Wanderlust inspired session!

A month from now J and I will be landing in the city that never sleeps for our 3rd anniversary bonanza! He has never been and it’s a place that stole my heart over a decade ago. To say we’re excited is an understatement!
